The Organ

OrganWhen our church building was originally opened, £35 was spent in obtaining a small organ to lead the singing (it was sold in 1915 for 62p).  In 1911, after much discussion and fund raising the present pipe organ was built by the firm of R Spurden Rutt of Leyton at a cost of £450, of which £225 was given by Andrew Carnegie.  For 28 years it had to be pumped by hand (by Mr Ernest Ware, at a wage of £2.75p ayear) as an electric blower was not fitted until 1939.

Our organist has retired and if you know of anyone suitably qualified then please get in contact.
